This is even funkier.

Sorry Joe, I hope this doesn't put you in critical condition, but the funk that this has will make your head spin round right round like a record, baby.

Yesterday was the day from hell here at my house. My mom decided to have one of those Pampered Chef parties (kinda like a Tupperware party, but with cooking gadgets and expensive frying pans that are truly incredible) and as I don't partake in the public school system in the way that most kids my age do, I was drawn away from my stack of homework and music practice, and set behind a vacuum with the task of wrangling the mess that had befallen our dwelling over spring break. Then came errands, and math classes, and all manner of other scary events involving cleaning solutions and rags.

Finally, the party actually started and my dad and I high-tailed it on out of the house and went out for fast food tacos. One of my favorite comfort foods in existence... but the digestive issues are not cool. Anyway, he decided to take us to that glorious shrine of entertainment that is Half Priced Books, where to my delight, I found a stack of house music 12"s on the clearance rack. How cool is that? One of them was the second vinyl of Funkstar De Luxe's Keep On Moving 2xLP album (couldn't find the first. I'm going to call the store and ask if it might be un-shelved or something).

I've been enamored with Funkstar's Sun Is Shining, which is a house rework of a Bob Marley song. Until now I've only had the club mix, but now I have this "Sand In My Shoe Mix" which is like... beautiful. If I ever get a chance to DJ the prom, I'm definitely using this song. Have a listen.

The album really ought to have started with this song here, as it's the perfect intro to what you will hear on the entire album. But no, it's on side D.

And then from here, he goes on to rework James Brown. That's pretty bold, don't you think? Marley and Brown on the same album?? Not only that, he did Grace Jones, Bob Dylan, and Tom Jones! What gile! What... what... amazingness!

And for kicks, here's the faster, more upbeat Club Mix of Sun Is Shining.

Keep funkin'.

Sun Is Shining is funky as hell! I saw the track on sale before, but didn't buy it because the name Funkstar De Luxe sounded so tacky. Now I realise what a huge mistake I made!
