Toddla T is a Jamaican raggamuffin trapped in the body of a gangly youth from Sheffield. Don't worry, this isn't another fictional character scenario like with Major Lazer, I'm just using a metaphor for his fascination with dancehall riddims.
His debut album "Skanky Skanky" is what it would sound like if Jack Beats, Basement Jaxx, Beenie Man and Arctic Monkeys went to Notting Hill Carnival and beat the shit out of each other for 51 glorious minutes. A mash of dancehall, garage, dubstep and electro, it's definitely my album of the year so far, with just some of the guest spots being Tinchy Stryder, Hervé, Roots Manuva and even dub poet Benjamin Zephaniah. Toddla T himself also performs vocals on the album under his nickname "T Willy".
I highly recommend you get the album, but if you don't trust MY word, here's a few tasters for you.
