Damn...

From our anonymous buddy "Discount," a new single, sent explicitly to me to spread it about. I must say it's pretty good.

This one's heavy, and for some of you - a bit too heavy. It samples Ratatat's - Loud Pipes in a pretty good fashion. Unlike his other track he sent about a month ago, this one doesn't have as many "annoying" effects as some of you mentioned.

Overall, I like it, please leave your honest opinion in the comment box. Discount made it very clear that he wants his music out there, and ilictronix is a great vehicle for that :D

Help him out,
Prez Jordan

nice track

it has this nice vibe and swing, but the way the snares are presented is a little too distorted to fit the style in my opinion and the fading in/out sometimes is a bit brusque

Bit too distorted. A good clean crunchy distortion is better than just raw overdrive that kills soundsystems.

Sounds like a bootleg that was recorded way too close to the speaker.

Other than that, its quite good.

No mastered or mixed properly...

This is pretty good, but the quality of the recording is kinda shotty. Adjusting Master Track settings would probably help.

I agree with all the posts above, but I think that this was the effect that Discount may have been going for. Yes it is a bit distorted, but I actually quite like it.

This track reminds me very much of the work of French artist, William Bouguereau. During his life time his work was heavily criticized. (This also goes for many other famous artists who's art was different then the style of the time) A few people loved Bouguereau's work, but the majority hated it. Now 100 years later people are still divided in their opinions, but rather now people have a wider view on art and people respect that there is no 'wrong' art.

Perhaps this is a new style of music that will catch on. Just think about it, 20 years ago if you had played a Justice song to someone, they would have laughed because the style was different to that of the time.

I quite like it. Different style. The more I listen to it the more it grows on me.

Sorry about the long comment...

Not bad. Has a good beat that 'bounces' or 'swings'. Kinda funky.

If Discount takes away some of the heavy distortion the song would be bit cleaner and would smoothly enter my ears (rather than pry open my ear canals with rusty crowbars and force jagged sharp tunes into them.

I really like this track. Any others by this artist? I tried searching but it only returned this blog post.
