The Ilictronix Guide To Dubstep, Part 4: SBTRKT and Ghost Hunter

Got a double whammy of dubstep producers today, to make up for having not done this feature for ages. Enjoy :)

SBTRKT is one of my favourite producers of the moment. Hidden behind his trademark tribal mask, he's been churning out beautifully produced skanky nuggets, a mishmash of dubstep, jungle and UK garage. He's done some killer remixes for the likes of Basement Jaxx, These New Puritans and Tinie Tempah, and has a new EP out in March/April.

And who else should I find on the beautiful "We Want War Remixes" release than another fantastic producer, Ghost Hunter. Unlike SBTRKT, who makes tracks to make you skank like your dad at a wedding after you've slipped some ketamine into his Carling, Ghost Hunter makes music that is as wobbly as swimming ten lengths in a pool of lime jelly, but at the same time, relaxing, ethereal and otherworldy. It's wonky, it's charmingly rough around the edges, and it sounds nothing like any other dubstep on the market today.

Keep it funky,
