Drinking a Cup of Earl

This week has been a nightmare for me. Asthma attacks, Allergies, Sinus Infections, and lots of bed rest have just killed my weekend. However, I did manage to accomplish one good thing out of this: Producing an epic progressive house track for our good friend EarlGrey.

Earl is a Filter Dance/House Musician who can really get a party going with his versatile and massively banging tracks. He works under the label Get Some Records (Which is down atm so no link right now) and has made remixes for lots of artists under that label, such as Dark DJ.

Anyways, last night,Earl decided to create a prog track, and he asked for people to help produce the track. I took up the mantle and decided to help him out and, 12 hours later, The track is finished. To put it frankly, its an epic prog track. It has a very mau5-like feel to it, sorta like Faxing Berlin. Earl liked the result so much, he requested i put this up to show you guys and that's what i plan to do :) Please Enjoy as its my first collab/production of any track!

Note: Also, dont be afraid to speak out your mind: this is just a rough copy. If you think there needs to be some alterations, let us know right away. :D

Peace,
NiteShade

okay okay, earl, this satisfies me now. it no longer sounds like a cover of faxing berlin like it did when i heard it last night.

Faxing Berlin? The beat reminds me of I Said and BSOD, the effects of So There I Was and Not Exactly.

when we were first making IDK, it had a very Faxing Berlin-esque feel to it. I still hear FB in it, though not as much.

Wow. Very Deadmau5-ish. And not a bad job on the production, Nite. :)

I like it a lot, regardless of who it sounds like.

The synth reminds me very much of White Knight Two by Surkin. This song is indeed very sick. Excellent job you two!

That trancey synth is a bit loud, I don't know about you guys but I can barely hear the drums underneath it. Is there any sidechain on that synth?

EarlGrey said...

yes there is a sidechain on the synth.
also, as for the drums, i could hear them just fine

Um, wow.
When I first started listening to it I didn't think it was going to be my cuppa' tea. (Get it.. Cup of tea.. Earl Grey... Ha, I crack myself up)

But at about the 2 minute mark, I fell in love. This is freaking amazing!

The one alteration I would advise is to remove (or shorten) the sudden fading out of the synth that accurs a few times at about the 1:20 mark and then again near the end. I personally found that a tad annoying.

But other than that, I love it! Nice work! :D

Yeah I agree with Color, its a pretty sick track but the sudden stops at 1:20 to 1:30 were kinda lame.

Great job tho man, other than that its a pretty damn smooth track
