Thoughts?

Okay, so you may recall from my first post that I want to take a different approach around what I’ll be posting about. I want to hear what you, the community, want to listen to because ultimately you are the reason I’m here. ;D

Idea 1:
On the exterior we all claim to completely despise mainstream music, though within all of us there is that small piece of desire that pulses in the back of our mind. This piece longs for the radio-typical beats and perfected vocals that is mainstream elecronica. Admit it, you crave it. Though none of us want to destroy our tough exterior, so thank god for remixes eyy? I was contemplating doing a monthly article titled ‘I Can’t Believe It’s Not Mainstream’, in which I will post remixes of the more overplayed/overhyped songs that we keep burried deep within our collections. To be honest, my secret obsession is Lady GaGa (Yes, I know it’s embarrassing. Deal with it). So what do you think?

Soz, I told you I like Lady Gaga.

Idea 2:
Now you know I’m Australian and that I love Australian artists right? So I would be honoured if I could expose some great little Aussie gems to you all. When I mentioned this in my first post I got a few positive comments about the idea, but I would like everyone’s opinion. Do you like the idea of a (roughly) monthly post on different Australian artists? Or do you think I should spend my time posting on something else? Thought and opinions please.

The Presets + Lifelike = EPIC WIN!

Idea 3:
Now we all love to party don’t we? (I know I do) And we all love to dance don’t we? (Errr, depends on how much alcohol has been consumed). So why not have a recurring post dedicated to what us music buffs like to do most… Party! And let’s face it, we can never have enough danceable chuunes in our collections.

I've been waiting for ages to post this gem. At first you might not like it, but trust me it will be stuck in your head for the next year and a half.

So what do you want to hear? What genres do you want to hear more of? What genres do you want to hear less of? I personally thought that we have more than enough house obsessed team members to keep you guys happy (which is good because house isn’t one of my strong points). Let us know by leaving a comment, or hit me on my beeper by sending me an email anytime :D

Posting Australian gems was one of the reasons why I vouched for you at the application battle. I think every member of the team should introduce us to bands we would never hear of, because they're only famous in their country of origin. But Idea 3 is good too... you should thow 'em in now and then. Mainstream remixes however can be pretty anoying however. Only post 'em if they are great!

Mr. Brown out!

That last track, the Yolanda and Dcup We no speak Americano was one of the best traxks Ive heard in awhile. It was like a fusion of french and mexican house... I loved it!

More hard electro, definitely. I'm really missing hard electro. last quality tracks I heard were months ago.

I like the mainstream idea- personally I love gaga and there are some great mainstream tracks that have great remixes, why not share them?

Haha so opinions so far are divided.

@Anonymous & Boba
Don't fret. Your hard electro craving will be satisfied soon enough..

@untra
Yeah I love it sooo much! I was afraid that if I added it to this post it wouldn't get the attention it deserved though.

Why thank you. And yes I know the presets are pure win. I'd kill to see them live. I'm really surprised that this track wasn't already posted.

Hey Colour, I hail from Oz too, and we definitely need more recognition for our music.

I dont think the Presets are mainstream btw.

The Presets were in the public eye for a fair bit with the release of Apocalypso, but they've died down.

My suggestion for 'Aussie spotlight' would have to be for the Canberra duo The Aston Shuffle - they've pumped out quality remixes for the likes of The Bloody Beetroots, Lost Valentinos and more.. along with their own original productions being just as good (I believe they are working on an album at the moment).

As for We No Speak Americano, personally I sorta hate the track as it's been horribly overplayed (on radio and elsewhere) - which is a shame because it's a decent gypsy tune. Nothing new though (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVSl_GLPvPs etc etc, plenty of real good stuff out there)

Definitely agree with Mr. Brown!

It is always great having someone knowing a lot about his or her regional music that you would never hear about in other countries. so aussie gems def thumbs up. i also agree with mr brown on idea 3. its always good to have something new. the song is dynamite ;) lovin it! the mainstream remixes you can find everywhere. i would say it is music 201 which is more advanced than 101 (pure mainstream) but way behind 301 (which would be idea 2&3 an even more 2). so yeah... unless it is some really unique remix you can always find it in a lot of different places.

germany out!
