Nightcall: Boba's Picks

It's been a few weeks now since the somewhat disappointing results of Kavinsky's Nightcall remix contest. Not that the 1st and 2nd winners weren't excellent (we're not even going to TOUCH on 3rd. I'll get mad), but I had honestly hoped that the contest would yield some serious bangers. Nightcall is easily Kavinsky's most 'wimpy' piece of work to date. It's slow, doesn't have much energy, and doesn't really move. I fully expected to hear some BRAAWWGRAAAWCHRUNNNCH electro remixes somewhere in those top 3, but alas, not so.

I had already decided before the results were posted that I would go through the submissions and pick a few of my favorites to share here on Ilictronix. After the disastrously disappointing Fan's Choice winner, I decided there was no doubt about it; some of the truly epic remixes had to be shared with the public so that the morons who picked the 3rd place would realize that they'd picked the wrong one. Not that Ilictronix really has the power to cow that many people, but it's still a nice thought.

No idea what the artist name is on this next one. They titled it, but didn't use their name in the title... which is really a shame, because this is definitely my favorite of the bunch. So great. It should have won something.

So yeah, there's some nifty Kavinsky remixes for your consideration.

Oh yeah, and this thing.

I personally found the whole competition to be a bit of a flop. People weren't given much to work with, and these hard to use vocals and samples resulted in only a handful of decent productions, and no absolutely amazing ones.

I must be the only person to have enjoyed the 3rd placed remix.

@Colour: What do you mean, hard to use? Those were easily the easiest vocals to work with I've ever had a chance to take a stab at.

@Alex: Obviously not, since it got the fan's choice. Don't owrry though, that just means you're one of those sorry losers :P
