Underground Resistance

Hey.
I've been thinking about acid house and techno a lot lately, and whilst sifting through my collection (trying to track down and fill some of the gaps), I was reminded of just how damn killer Underground Resistance are.

And, in an odd coincidence, I also recently saw a post by Mike Mind, in which he stated:

"I've always secretly suspected that UR's reputation and image have overshadowed the actual music they put out -- that people know they're 'important' and have seen the logo on their favorite dj's t-shirt, but don't really know the music so well." I don't think I've ever seen someone actually wearing a t-shirt as such, but I have to agree - UR are something of a grey area for a lot of people (with the exception of a few hits, such as 'Knights of the Jaguar'). They have a blurry and slightly overwhelming list of releases, not to mention being a self-styled 'collective' rather than a single artist - Making UR harder to... 'identify' with, in a sense.

But, not to be deterred, and with such a large output, I doubt this will be my last post on Underground Resistance - there's some really great stuff, and it deserves a lot more attention than a search on Wikipedia.

So.

Let's start with Acid Rain, shall we?

Wanna get your material on Kavinsky's label?

Sure you do. If you are a producer, here's an opportunity to get some exposure! Kavinsky just announced a Nightcall remix contest. The grand prize is a digital release of the mix on Record Makers! The other rpizes are awesome stuff like vinyls, so go for it.

The other side of the Spectrum

Yo guys, Its Nite here. I noticed that Mr. Brown just recently put up some filthy dubstep for you guys. Ahh the heavy bass, that filthy wobble, it just pumps you up, no? Well today im going to present to you another side to dubstep, most of you have never heard before.

We're going with some clean dubstep.

The band I'm presenting today is a UK Dubstep/Showtune producer named Pangaea, relatively old compared to the newer generation of dubstep producers out there. When making their dubstep, they take it to its very core, cleans up all the filth, and sends out a purified ambient type of dubstep very unique and different to the dubstep we usually associate with today.

Don't get mad though. The lack of filth pangaea brings is made up with their creative style and smooth tone. Its definitely chiller than Rusko or Caspa, but its just as good(if not, better, in my opinion)

Anyways, here are some of Pangaea's tracks:

Let me know what you guys think of them in the comments section.
Peace, Nite

Om Nom Nom...

Hi there,

Today I'm going to introduce you to Cookie Monsta...

This UK DUBstepper's tunes are so heavy, turning your bass all the way up causes trembles measuring 7 on the Richter Scale.

They give me all the necessary elements DUB should have, it is...

Drumtastic:

Wobbly:

& Bass heavy:

Enjoy,

Tribute

Just got this in my inbox today and I love it. The concept, sample, drums, everything. It's fantastic, and it's all for DJ Sneak.

The whole feel of the track is very 1999. But then again, this is Leonardus we're talking about. The only modern artist I can honestly say must be trapped in some sort of time wormhole between the 90s and today. Viva la French House!

So enjoy, and be sure to hit up Leonardus on MySpace.
