Figured i post a quick one.

Instead of making a post of ONE artist, I will post three remixes of songs from different artists. Gotta say, these three have been stuck in my head for so long I need to let others hear it, so it gets stuck in their head lol (i kid).

Heres a sweet edit of The Who from SebastiAn himself!

The Who - Baba O'Riley (SebastiAn Remix) [right click to download]

and a cool herve remix of Calvin Harris. Give it a try (though the transitions are left to be desired, just a warning):

Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone (Herve's See You at the Festivals Remix) [right click to download]

And last but not least: the Burns Remix of Empire of the suns We are the People!

Enjoy and Stay Tuned for SebastiAn post coming up soon (after my next post)

Siriusly... this stuff is never given the credit it deserves.

Boys Noize, the famous German electro artist runs his own record label called Boys Noize Records. One of the artists signed to this label is a chap called Siriusmo, who is a truly incredible artist. He really ought to be on a major label, IMO. I find it truly incredible how he incorporates short samples into his tracks almost seamlessly. One moment you're listening to a short disco fanfare, and then the next you're immersed in a not-even-remotely-disco synthscape, and you wonder where the transition is, and just can't find it.

His 2008 release Allthegirls really gets my groove on. The title track, Allthegirls gets repeated in various fashions all throughout the length of the album/EP. When I get the opportunity to DJ a school dance, the Girlsrock track is going to be in my reserve for the frequent times at my school when most the girls go sit down because there's a 1:4 guy-to-girl ratio.

Allthegirls (Yuksek Remix)

In my head, the Yuksek remix would mix well with the Phantom's Revenge remix of Grum's Sound Reaction.

Of course, Diskoding from several years ago also has some terrific tracks. The perfect blend of disco and electro. Disclectro. Discolectro. Elisctro. Something like that.

MashUp Madness (intermezzo)

Hi there,

I thought the end of my exams would mean lots of free time to post some tracks, but it turns out I've got so much stuff to do I can't seem to find the time...
But you know I love you guys, so here's a summer bootleg to get the dancefloors pumping.

Created by my good friend DJ Neurotique, and it won't be the last time I'm posting his tracks, he's getting real good real fast.

Joe's Essential Guide to 90s Dance, Part 4

Yesterday I realised I'd gotten hrough the whole of June without doing an installment of the 90s Dance Guide. So, here we are...

My early 90s track today comes from Hardrive, an alternate alias of Masters At Work (the New York house production duo made up of Louie Vega and Kenny Dope). Released in 1993, This is one of my favorite house tracks of all time. Deep synths, diva vocal samples and a brilliant beat. This track's got it all.

Hardrive - Deep Inside[right click to download]

And for the late 90s, I have "Vous Voulez De La Musique?", from French artist Fafa Monteco. I wasn't too keen on this track, but then I got my hands on a remix from ilictronix favorite Sebastien Leger that completely blows the original out of the water! Released on Belgian label Sculpture (under licence from Blackjack, one of my favorite house labels), this track's funky brass sample is just too good to resist.

I'm in a Basement Jaxx mood today. Don't know why. Regardless, here's a nice little widget where you can listen to all the remixes of new single "Raindrops" and also have a little play about cutting between the different tracks.

Add This.

So I was looking around the interwebs for some "French Touch" and I came across a YouTube channel of a guy with one of the best french disco house collections I've ever seen. I thought for sure he'd be in the same boat as alexdaftpunk91, but I was shocked to see he only had about 100 subscribers! I figured I had to do something!

So I am reaching out to the ilictronix community...check this guy out. He has nearly 130 videos of some of the finest music around, and he updates more frequently than alex does!

So please, PLEASE check this guy out here and subscribe to him.

New MSTRKRFT video

MSTRKRFT have revealed the music video for the next single from the "Fist Of God" album. Featuring John Legend on vox, "Heartbreaker" is a bit of a sound experiment for MSTRKRFT, with a one finger piano riff and Justice-y bass. The video appears to show a young hooligan fall in love with a 99 cent store clerk while his friends run amok in the store. I don't really get it, but it's brilliantly driected, and a fuckload better than the "Bounce" video that's for sure.

MSTRKRFT - Heartbreaker [Right Click To Download]

Break beats not hearts,

Some Heavy Stuff Here....

I am not going to go into much detail today, simply because i am tired, but my post today is on herve and i plan to show you some remixes you will LOVE.

Here is his remix of Metallica's Enter Sandman. He makes this already epic track even cooler with badass beats and stuttering that make you go crazy! too bad its short.

Metallica - Enter Sandman (Herve Refix) [right click to download]

The next to show is my personal favorite his bloc party remix. This epic mix has an incredibly addicting electro/dubby tune with some catchy vocals. It makes a great club track and will make anyone shake their butt.

Bloc Party - Mercury (Herve is in Disarray Remix) [right click to download]

And speaking of catchy vocals and butt shaking, heres my 2nd Fave,The Science of Fear remix! very dubby if i do say so myself.

The Temper Trap - Science of Fear (Herve Remix) [right click to download]

And here's one more beat i know you'll like.

Depeche Mode - Peace (Herves Warehouse Frequencies Remix) [right click to download]

I would try to post rarer tacks of him here but i dont really have the time or patience to look around. I hope you enjoy these anyway!

He's Moonwalking On Clouds Now

Like many of you, I was gutted when I heard the news that Michael Jackson was dead. I was planning a tribute post, but it seems one of our other writers already beat me to it. So I'll be posting some of my favourite Jacko remixes instead. We've already posted the amazing Telemitry remix of Smooth Criminal and the outstanding Louis La Roche remix of Thriller on this blog (just use the search bar and you should find them), so I won't bother posting them again. Enjoy everyone, and rest in peace Michael!

Michael Jackson - P.Y.T. (Marquis Remix) [Right Click To Download]

Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal (LAZRtag Remix) [Right Click To Download]

And as a bonus, here's a track from Hervé that samples Thriller. There's a version with Plastic Little doing vocals, but I only have the original instrumental version.

Hervé - Cheap Thrills (Original Instrumental Mix) [Right Click To Download]

Keep moonwalking,

Let me share some Mehdipedic Knowledge with You (Ed Bangah Review Part I ).

You may know his killer signatune track, but this Ed Banger has more than just one killer song. He has many tracks that bring the house down, but i cant show you my entire collection of his awesomeness, lest i want jordan to fire me, so i will give you 4 tracks i deem that MUST be posted on here...

The first one is I Am Somebody. This Hip-Hop themed House Track can get anyone dancing. There are two versions to the song though: the already blogged to hell paris version, and the rarer, less known, and cooler Montreal version off his i am somebody EP.
The difference in this is that its longer, the somebody synths differ, and the song differs in parts as well. It is an excellent tune from Mehdi and i hope you love it too.

DJ Mehdi - I Am Somebody (Montreal version) [right click to download]

My Second choice has got to be Breakaway (creds to Alex for finding this song). This song is not on ed banger records but on delabel records on one of his old works. the catchy guitarish synth, the melody, and the catchy words,(You Gonna Learn Today, You gotta Breakaway) make this one of my all time favorite songs from him. You will love it.

DJ Mehdi - Breakaway (Original Mix) [right click to download]

Now For His Remixes:

for those of you who have heard sam sparro's 21st Century Life, this should be a huge hit for you guys. the mix is cleverly addicting with new beats and a synth that sounds oddly familiar... You'll see when you hear it :D its one of my favorite mixes from him.

Sam Sparro - 21st century Life (DJ Mehdi's Secret Disco Dub) [right click to download]

And Finally, Last but not least.... His Etienne De Crecy Mix!

Etienne De Crecy - Out Of My Hands (DJ Mehdi Remix) [right click to download]

Now you know a little bit more about this guy.

Producer Goodies I

The thought occurred to me today that I have way too many drum samples on my computer. In light of that, I decided I should probably share the wealth. So for you today, I have a zip of tons of amazing drum machine samples for every genre: Hip hop, techno, trance, rock, pop, house... it's all there.

A Sad Day

Today we mourn the loss of the man who, among other, less important things, created the song sampled by The Prodigy in "The Way It Is" and epitomized everything horrible about the power of celebrity.

Basement Jaxx in the Live Lounge

Do you like my shitty homemade artwork?

Earlier today, Basement Jaxx and their live band went in to Radio 1's world-famous Live Lounge to record a session for Jo Whiley's show. The track below contains an interview with Felix and Simon, plus the two tracks they recorded in the Live Lounge: an acapella version of "Raindrops" and a cover of Little Boots' "New In Town". Enjoy.

Keep it funky,

Sneaky Little Flames....

Sorry for consecutive posting but i promised to post this as soon as i came home onto the PC.

Today I bring you 2 Burnin Tracks, rare and hard to find, to you all. I guarantee you will love them.

The first one to share is the mongowarrior Remix. The longest of the two ,at 10 minutes long, gives a very chicago house feel with a twist of psychadelic. the whole song gradually builds up till the midpoint, then gives a steady, groovy rhythym that declines its climatic buildup at the end. Its one of my favorite mixes of DP,safe to say.

Daft Punk - Burnin' (DJ Sneaks "Mongowarrior" Remix) [right click to download]

The Second Mix is Sneaks Main mix of Burnin, which is my favorite of the two. This Mix Builds up slowly and the beats are more varied and are probably easier on the ears. This 9 minute song of epic proportions gives us something to Jam to. Both of these Songs are danceable, but htis one will probably be the bigger hit in clubs. the bold synths give this a more spicy version of burnin, what it should have been originally in my opinion.

Daft Punk - Burnin' (DJ Sneaks Main Mix) [right click to download]

Enjoy these little rare gems and chill out to some house.

In This Post I Have No Taste AT ALL

I just decided that today I'd post the most tasteless tracks in my collection. Just listen anyway, guy, you won't regret it TOO much.

At number 5, we have Daft Punk's HORRIBLE remix of Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out. You may wonder how a Daft Punk remix could be bad... I've wondered the same. Regardless, this sucks.

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (Daft Punk Remix)
[Right Click To Download]

At number 4, we have Pop! Goes My Heart by the fictional band Pop! from the truly remarkable Hugh Grant film, Music And Lyrics. Oh man... so... catchy... brain... dying...

Pop! Goes My Heart
[Right Click To Download]

At number 3, I give you ATC - Around The World. This sounds absolutely nothing like the Daft Punk club hit, and was featured in an electricity commercial when I was in 5th grade, thus killing the track to infinity.

ATC - Around The World
[Right Click To Download]

At Number 2, I give you the instrumental of Britney Spears' (or BS for short) chart topping track, Womanizer. I give you the instrumental, because the vocals cause ear bleedage.

BS - Womanizer Instrumental (Thank God)
[Right Click To Download]

At numer one, killing people all over the world, we have Hilary Duff, our wonderful little Lizzy McGuire, preaching cloaked recreation sex, all the while stomping on and kicking Depeche Mode's corpse. I have an electro/trance remix here to ease the blow.

Hilary-as-smart-as-her-Duff - Reach Out And Steal From Depeche Mode (Richard Vission To The Rescue Remix)

If you're still alive, great! See ya next time around!

Hey guys, Niteshade here. I thought it would be necessary to introduce a bit about myself before doing any music posts, as I am not home.

For starters, my real name is Gavin, I am 16 years old and I hail from Duluth, Georgia, a small town in a large state. My usual activites/hobbies involve Karate, Reading, TV, Videogames, and of course, listening to a grand array of electronic music. My faves on these are (in no particular order): DJ Mehdi, SebastiAn, Daft Punk, Justice, Erol Alkan, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Deadmau5,and well the list goes on.

In the end, I am damn proud to be a member of this team and you can expect to hear from me soon with my next post on thursday or which will have two rare dj sneak mixes of a daft punk track. Until then I bid you adieu and hope to be a major contributor to this blog in the future.

500th Post!

Is mine! Bwuahaha!

And The Winner Is...

The votes are in! And by votes I mean my opinion!

The infamous "hanging chads" from the 2000 United States Presidential Election

So we had many recounts. Thanks to all our excellent applicants who applied, and made my life extremely difficult in a time where I did not need it to be. All of you Europeans are dead asleep by now, so good morning to you all!

After reviewing the applications, I decided on someone I felt was reliable, knowledgable, and adaptable to whatever I threw at him. For these reasons, I have gone with Night Shade. You'll be seeing a lot of him in the near future, so check back for updates!

Spots may empty and fill, so please don't consider this the end for those of you who are not pleased with the results!

MOAR BASS PLZ - Part 4: A1 Bassline

2002 saw the emergence of the UK's bassline house scene in Sheffield, England. The style originated from speed garage, and shares characteristics with other UK scenes such as dubstep and grime. Late 2007 to early 2008, the scene was breaking out of the underground, with singles such as T2's "Heartbroken" and Delinquent's "My Destiny" gaining quite a bit of airtime on commercial radio. But alas, it was not to be. The scene's mainstream success dwindled fast, leaving behind a trail of one-hit wonders.

While I'm not a fan of most of the garage elements in bassline, Christian Sibthorpe, AKA A1 Bassline, is a favourite of mine, taking those same garage elements and fusing them with fidget bass, distorted electro, 8bit bleeps, rave... Whatever he likes really. He released his "Girl Thing" EP around this time last year, and he's remixed everyone from Ladyhawke to Little Boots to Rusko. here are a couple of nice tunes for you.

Gotta catch 'em all!

Guitars held together with red string. Rotating wheels with plectrums attached. Bowed instruments built from the remains of wobbly CD racks. The use of hole punchers as hi-hats. These are just a few of the bizarre homemade instruments present on Micachu's album "Jewellery".

Micachu is a Surrey-born, London-bred songstress who, although classically trained, likes her music dirty. Along with her band The Shapes, she is signed to the legendary indie label Rough Trade, through which she released her debut earlier this year. The album is definitely worth a listen, a wacky mishmash of short but sweet DIY pop-punk and random background noise. It's hard to categorize Micachu & The Shapes' sound in one precise genre really, so here's three original tracks, and two remixes courtesy of We Have Band and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. Judge for yourself.

Micachu & The Shapes - Vulture [Right Click To Download]

And so, I leave you with the video for the brilliant "Golden Phone", so keep it funky,

Oh Another Thing...

I got an email asking how I did the iTunes song thing (on the right). So, if you want the source code and some instruction on setting it up, send me an email.

Adding some fancy code for the next hour or so. I apologize ahead of time if things go berzerk!

I'm basically writing some scripts that record my current iTunes song, then publish it to the web. I could use a program, but I'd rather code it by myself! So again, sorry if things mess up. Specifically, the Shoutbox because it also uses an iframe and some type of conflict may occur.

It'll be cool when it's done,

So we all heard the news about Justice signing on with Elektra, right? Well today I received an anonymous email with a leaked track from their NEW LATE-2009 ALBUM! Frikken awesome yeah? MUCH.

This track is extremely catchy, and I dare you to keep from whistling it all day after hearing it. It returns to their original biblical style track naming, Tribe Of Benjamin. The track deviates from their heavily distorted sounds, and pursues the funkier sax sound that we heard in their Let Love Rule remix.

Now you're playing with POWER!

I'm done shamelessly promoting my label now. kthxbai.

MOAR BASS PLZ - Part 3: Major Lazer

Major Lazer is the Carribean-infused side project of fidget godfather Switch and Mad Decent label boss Diplo. It revolves around the fictional character Major Lazer, "a Jamaican commando who lost his arm in the secret Zombie War of 1984. The US military rescued him and repurposed experimental lazers as prosthetic limbs. Since then Major Lazer has been a hired renegade soldier for a rogue government operating in secrecy underneath the watch of M5 and the CIA." So far, so weird. But an eclectic mix of dubstep, reggae, dancehall rhythms, raggamuffin chants and crunk autotune from superproducers like Switch and Diplo has got to be worth a listen. That's what I thought and I'm glad I did.

I'll be posting an album review as soon as I can get my hands on it, but until then here are two massive Major Lazer originals. Vocal dupstep tune "Anything Goes" featuring Turbulence, and lead single "Hold The Line", a self proclaimed "surf rock ragga thingamajig" featuring Mr Lexx and Santigold.

In The Summertime, When The Weather Is High...

All I can say is... sorry, guys. I've been nagging at myself to post on here for some time now, and while I wish it were some great tragedy that kept me from you, it was mostly plain laziness. I can say, however, that I was about to post here when I suddenly, devastatingly, and accidentally deleted most of my library of music (don't worry! After crying for several hours I realized I had a backup). That aside, here I am again. Hopefully that won't happen any more but I'm not making any promises.
Phew, now that that's out of the way...

Ah, Summer. Whether you're celebrating the break from studies, planning your next vacation, or simply enjoying the weather, you can be sure that this is the season to either kick back and relax or dance like you've never danced before. As such, today I'll be posting a few summery tracks to assist both causes.

First up is a house classic, Daft Punk's 10-minute, album-closing epic, the appropriately-named "Too Long". With lyrics about the relief of a great burden and a homecoming, and with some of the warmest, most upbeat synths this side of [insert somewhere with really upbeat synths], this is the perfect track to play while celebrating the season.

Daft Punk - Too Long [right click to download]

While there will undoubtedly be a few diehards out there who'll object, we all love those club tracks you see on "BEST OF IBIZA VOLUME 800" compilations. There's really no better kind of music for dancing in the heat of summertime, and even as you complain that they project a stereotypical image of electronic music, you somehow find yourself grooving.
"Everybody, stampin' to the beat."

Flexy - Mamasita (12" Cotto Mamasita House Mix Version) [right click to download]

In one of the rare instances where I've really liked a track that's gained a fair amount of radio airplay, I think this summer's club hit, as many fans are already calling it, is deserving of its title. David Guetta really pulled off something great with this one, especially considering it starts off with a sample from (dare I speak its name?) Coldplay. A gift from me to you in honor of summer love.

And just because it inspired the name for this post and it's a fun track:

Happy Bday, Barry.

Our favorite flamboyant oldtimer pop singer is 63 today. Happy birthday Mr. Mannilow!

What can I say? It's only teenage wasteland.

I've always thought an electronic rework of The Who's hit Baba O'Riley (CSI Miami theme) would be way epic. Though I would rather have seen someone like Justice do the honors, I suppose these Cube Guys will suffice.

The normal version of this track just loops the "Don't cry" section, so I've spent the last half hour tracking down the UK mix version, which features the full vocal starting with "Out here in the fields" just as it should be!

By request, and because I love this track so much...

Good luck finding an mp3 of this one anywhere, it's one of the rarest tracks I own (I think). Anyway AlexDaftPunk posted this so I immediately got a few requests to post it, so I did :)

This track is pure french house, it's so funky and cut up that I just want to dance with it. For some reason, it sounds a lot like 2001 French House releases, but it was apparently released in 2000, go figure. Once I start buying some more vinyl, this will be one of my first purchases :D

A Hen's Tooth

Today, I'll be posting a really rare track by a guy who goes/went by the username of Daft Mafia, who, from what I know was a user on a Daft Punk fan forum a few years back. Louis La Roche posted this track on his blog yesterday, but since his blog isn't signed up to Hype Machine, I'll post it here too in the hope that it will become not so rare. And wouldn't you know it... ANOTHER track that ties in with this whole "Call On Me" conspiracy. We did a previous post on the subject, but according to Louis we got some facts wrong. So, here's what (we think) really happened...

Basically the version of "Call On Me" that Together played out at their DJ gigs was an early demo version by Eric Prydz (and was not, as many believe, a Together track that Prydz ripped off). Prydz had also sent that same demo to Steve Winwood (the man who performed "Valerie", the song that "Call On Me" samples), and Winwood liked it enough to re-record the vocals for the proper version. So there you go, it wasn't a Together track or a Together remix of the Eric Prydz track, just an early demo.

And what does this have to do with this "Daft Mafia" person? Well, since the only audio clips of this early Prydz demo available today are rips from Together's DJ set, Daft Mafia decided to get his hands on the original sample ("Valerie by Steve Winwood) and make his own reconstruction/cover/rework, to capture the feel of the early demo without having to resort to bad quality set rips.

So now we've cleared that up, let's get onto this track shall we? Well, while the Eric Prydz cover-thing-whatever-the-fuck-it-is-I-really-don't-give-a-shit-anymore isn't that hard to find (just get to the Roule closeout on Solid Goldberger and you'll find it), this ORIGINAL track by Daft Mafia, called "I Feel So", is much rarer. It's a brilliant French house track, with a solid beat, nice groove, and CONGAS! This is being posted here mainly because I want Hype Machine whores to be able to get their hands on it. Enjoy this rare gem, and sorry it's only at 160kbps, but look around, you're probably not going to find it better quality.

So, one question still remains... Just who IS this mysterious "Daft Mafia", and did he produce any other tracks. Alex posted an edit of Le Knight Club's "Tropicall" that was supposedly remixed by him, but is there anything else? We may never know...

Keep it funky, and I'll be posting MOAR BASS PLZ part 3 soon!

But I do...

Hi there,

Found some time to post and I'm gonna do another in depth post on one of our small country's (Belgium) great talents, called The Subs.
Why these guys? Cause la prez is always nagging about getting trance back on the board and they're here to do just that.

Here's their story:
In the beginning 2 many DJ's (not these guys again...) used to sit on the throne at the Culture club (a club in Ghent) as residents, but after becoming way too famous they passed their crown on to the Glimmers and these chaps gave it to Starski & Tonic.
The two latter DJ's met a guy named Papillon one day at this club, and the tree of them started getting together and having a little fun...

Their tracks started off as a joke, the band wanted to see how far they could push the limits of the trance-genre and get away with it. The tracks became famous underground dance tunes, and here are two of them to give you a little taste: You Make Me Spill & Fuck That Shit.

Apart from the dirty lyrics these tunes got a lot of partygoërs shaking and raving (notice the epic climax in fuck that shit).

Later on, their song Kiss My Trance turned out te be a massive cross-over success: in genuine guerilla-style, it peaked both commercial charts AND terrorized the radio AND put club dancefloors on fire.

Probably their best trance song to date, where the awkward rhytm gives it quite a punch.

And so the band received a thumbs up from the likes of Boys Noize, Philippe Zdar, T. Raumschmiere, Laurent Garnier and uh... Tiësto!
They brought back trance to the clubs and claim that mr. Oizo (oh, we love that dude) inspired them to do so.

So they released an album called Subculture: Here's a preview.

The Subs - Music Is The New Religion [right click to download]

This song samples the classic "The House of God" from 1990 and it works really well. The snares make you feel like you're on acid, and in my opinion that's a good thing.

The Subs - My Punk [right click to download]

This is what I'd like to call the heavy track of the bunch. The base pulls you down and those vocals are just plain scary.

The Subs - Papillon [right click to download]

Aah, my favourite song of the bunch... just expect it to go on and on in your head for a long time.

Hmmm, guess I made a little album review out of it, cause all but one (you make me spil) of the tracks are on Subculture.
Conclusion: pretty darn good album if you like the genre.
