A Question For You...

I've been doing this blogging thing for about a year and a half now, and it goes without saying that it was the best decision I've ever made. But, I haven't been on this Earth all that long (only 17 years), so I was much too young to witness some of the greatest artists that laid the foundation for artists that I know and love today.

So my question is... What artist/song/album made you think "Damn, electronic music owns!" ?

I loved Daft Punk as a kid, and Discovery was the first CD I ever truly fell in love with, so I've been a fan of dance music for a long time (for my age). But the first song that really made me think "Damn, this stuff is legit" was Justice's DVNO.

So what song inspired you to keep listening? Let me know in the comments section.

Looking forward to hearing your responses,
Prez

Remind me.

Hey everyone.

Whilst making a playlist for a friend of mine, consisting of some new tracks I'd recently laid my hands on, my interest was peaked by how a few of them reminded me immediately of other songs. It's not necessarily obvious - or maybe even real - but it sure does make a nice combination.
So, when I first heard this -

I thought of this right away.

And when I finally got my hands on this -

Well.

Phil.

(Oh, and pre-order Kavinsky's new EP here, okay?)

Gorillaz (Alex Metric + Louis La Roche Remixes)

Gorillaz' comeback single "Stylo" was a bit of a damp squib in its original form, but these two remixes from man of the moment Alex Metric and blog favourite Louis La Roche more than make up for it. Louis' version is a slow chugging beat, revolving around a sampled funk riff with the odd vocal snippet thrown in, while Alex goes for a much more epic approach, starting out with a simple beat and chorus chant, before getting Moroder-y as fuck, then finally plunging head first into a full-on disco onslaught.

Keep it funky,
Joe
