I don't think I have ever been so anxious before clicking on a soundcloud link before, today Louis La Roche posted this remix and... Oh well it's impressive.
I can't say I heard the original track (nor do I really want to), so a comparsion is impossible to make but this is clearly everything you like in LLR, plus some catchy chorus.
But that's not the only remix LLR posted recently, he remixed a Birdee song too, sadly it lacks of something to be as great as the One Direction remix.
Anyhoo, lately I can't stop listening to japanese electro, especially PARKGOLF. Here are the reasons, right there.
As you may have heard, Empire of the Sun is returning with a new album this June, and it's about damn time. Empire of the Sun put out some great stuff in the '08-'10 period (those 3 years when everything was just awesome), and I've been waiting for more brilliant tracks like We Are the People or Walking on a Dream ever since. It seems we might be getting just that.
I know some of the readers here are friends with me on Facebook, in which case you know that I'm a big Ellie Goulding fan. If she were an anime character and a I was a wiabu, she'd be mai waifu. But since I'm not that corny, she's just my favorite female pop artist, which is a much classier distinction. People may also have heard that I'm not a fan of Louis La Roche. Well I'm not. A lot of his strikes me as distinctly unoriginal, and I still don't believe his claims that he didn't intentionally impersonate Thomas Bangalter to promote his Peach EPin 2008. This remix kinda goes to prove my point- it's just dripping in Together. And also in Surkin. It's like he just superglued pieces of Surkin to Together with Ellie Goulding vocals. Meh. I dunno. I'm biased. Either way, this is still a very cool remix. I'm hoping to pick up the Halcyon Remixes album that Nike put out the other day to review it.

If you don't remember, Magna is an awesome American electro artist who released an EP on Power Glove Records a couple years ago and then quickly left his labelmates in the dust and became like a Super-Saiyan of production, and has been wowing everyone with crisp, fresh, genre-bending electro and house ever since. He's a pretty cool guy.
Some great tracks came out this weekend, here are those who really got on my mind.
I couldn't not start with this track. Frank Ocean gives us another track from his soon to be released album Channel Orange. A magnificient mix between poetry, hip hop, electro and jazz.
Louis La Roche is best known for his disco house skills, he diverges from his usual style here, going for something a bit more clubby/techno, still pretty strong though.
Pyramid decided to try his hand at Logic, he usually makes his tunes using FLstudio. For a first shot, that's pretty impressive! As usual, everything is about the atmosphere, the progression slowly getting to your guts...
Pilotpriest's back with some synths that'll keep your mind in the clouds for a few minutes, while slowly coming back to reality because well, it's monday.

Guess who just released a remix for Louis La Roche? Our boy Magna! It's part of LLR's remix contest for Untrue and it has all its chances to win in my opinion, brilliant balance of synths, violins, vocals and dubstep parts.
Bonus : Vito's March mix, 2 weeks late but eh, it's a good mix! I wasn't really sure what would happen to the name Aeroplane after Stephen going solo but I think that it simply showed that both these guys were talented and had brilliant mixing skills, even if I prefer Stephen's atmosphere.

First, two remixes of The Rapture's new song by Populette and Lapse. I listened to the original about 10 times on my way to work, it was in my head all day long and those two remixes didn't help to get the lyrics away.

As I'm sure you've seen from my other Pick 'N Mix posts, I have a soundtrack for almost everything. And this October is no different, I have an assortment of tunes to make you dance, and some to creep you out. Let's begin :)
I'll start with the electro first, Oizo delivers with the original version of pourriture, not necessarily a Halloween song but fits the bill quite well with it's screechy guitars and haunting vocals. I'm also using it for my Zombie movie I'm doing at college, so there's that too!
This one earns it's place on the list simply because it samples old zombie flicks, what more can you ask for at this time of year, eh? There's a surprising lack of samples like that actually, I sense a gap in the market! I will team up with someone and create Progressive Zomstep House! any takers?
Next up is a track I heard best described as "the theme to the most messed up and awesome game show ever". Sébastien's weird combo actually works out pretty well, it's catchy as all hell despite sounding incredibly cheesy at the beginning.
And whats Halloween without thriller? 'cept this ain't the thriller you know, it's remixed by our man La Roche. 'nuff said.
One late addition that came up as I was writing, one of my recent favourite tracks - a real downbeat number from Fever Ray, for those of you who want a more ambient night :).
For the finale, one track that will genuinely creep you out. I'm not going to say much other than if you need some sounds for freaking people out, this is the track to do it with. (fun fact: Gwely Mernans translates to "Death Bed") also, if you want more creepy stuff from AFX check out Hankie from the Warped series.
sorry for the huge gap, been bogged down with coursework and stuff, you know how it is. (not as bad as being a Chilean miner, mind) This means I won't be as regular sometimes, but now I should be back to my old schedule (for a while). Warped will continue after this post, but for now, just be glad I finally got something up. :P

Something new: Malfunction, reminds me of the old house we used to get in the 90's over in jolly old England, and Mr. La Roche should know, being English and all.
Perfect summer tune. 'Nuff said
Something Old: same as above, reminds me of simpler times when all I cared about were crisps (that's chips for you in the states) and lemonade before life kicked in. well, that and you cant have summer without some quality house.
I love this next track to bits, (you've probably heard of BoC if you follow Deadmau5's twitter or FB) I play the album it's from every summer and it never gets old. whack this one on when the sun starts to go down, or up, and you'll see BoC really are something else.
and this is where the summer theme stops, and it becomes "Tracks I think you'll like" first up is some vocoded bliss by Chromeo, given a nice dollop of dub by Skream. Don't worry, it's chilled. No filthy wobbles in this post!
Remember the remix competition Röyksopp held for tricky tricky a while back? I found my stash of them tucked away on my HD. somehow I'd forgotten about this absolute gem. A huge 8 minute progressive house number, adds an extra layer of epic over the already amazing vocals. You'll never want this track to stop, I know I don't.

Louis' version is a slow chugging beat, revolving around a sampled funk riff with the odd vocal snippet thrown in, while Alex goes for a much more epic approach, starting out with a simple beat and chorus chant, before getting Moroder-y as fuck, then finally plunging head first into a full-on disco onslaught.
