Apologies in advance for this one, I completely forgot to post the last couple podcasts myself and Adam did. To be fair it was 3 months ago and I was busy in the throes of my new job (and dealing with a broken hand + elbow on opposite arms). We haven't recorded since but we're both fairly busy with life things atm, still I should reach out to him and hopefully we can get another one out before the end of the year (I probably shouldn't have said it won't be so long before the next one in hindsight...).
in the meantime though, here are our two solo episodes we recorded due to schedule issues. First up, Me! Again, apologies for the slightly naff audio quality from me, I'm recording these on my G430s, which might be good for counter strike but not so much Podcast recording. I might sound a little worse than Adam's setup but the tunes will shine through methinks. Tracklist after the embed:
Tracklist: Intro: Siriusmo - Nights Off
HEALTH - Stonefist
Leila - Welcome To Your Life
Maya Jane Coles - Over
Funkstörung - Disconnected Adam's Outro: Octo Octa - New Paths
And also Adam's. I gave it a listen while I was transcribing the track-list. Adam's tunes are a lot longer than mine but that's not a complaint whatsoever, I enjoy what he brings to the table too, sometimes I feel like you can get stuck in a rut of 'recommended artists' from Spotify and the like, so having Adam come in with cuts like these is refreshing to say the least. My choice pick would be the Addvibe tune, definitely stick around for that.
Tracklist: Intro: Phuture - Your Only Friend
Decoy - Imp Overlord Dub
Addvibe - Sada (N'Dinga Gaba Diplomacy Soul remix)
Johnick - C'mon Give It Up
Pablo Valentino - One (Detroit Swindle Perspective) Outro: DJ Red Alert & Mike Slammer - In Effect
Oh boy me and InDesign nearly had some fallout today, you'd think after a few years worth of experience things'd be easier, but adobe always keep me on my toes when it comes to software. Anyway today I did some adult things (not like that you 'orrible minded lot) so I forgot to post. So have a hastily put together 10PM post.
Ellsworth Kelly - Spectrum Colors Arranged By Chance VI (1951)
For all the smack talk I did in the opening paragraph, editing to audio isn't half therapeutic sometimes. Special thanks to Siriusmo for keeping me sane while I awkwardly nudge 5 text boxes into alignment. At least I could try and do it to the rhythm of the beat.
Perhaps it may have been a tad fast tho, so instead have a slower cut from Commix's debut to even things out. I put it away a lot because I tend to wear out the track-list, but I'll be damned if that rumbling bassline isn't sexy as hell nearly every time.
Put Music Has The Right To Children back in after a long abscence. Still as good as ever, the album has earned its reputation had more than enough said about it, and for my money it's still the best jumping in point to BoC's own personal brad of ambient infused sound.
Stopped off for a cheeky pint or two on me way home with some mates, as university students are legally required to do. And I gots to thinking about audio that matched out merry state as I walked to the station, and here's what I found!
Pablo Picasso - The Absinthe Drinker (1901)
Kicking off with a bit from Modeselektor. Hadn't even considered this at first, but then the stumbling melody that opens the track just fit perfectly for the theme. Lucky I've recently put Happy Birthday! back into rotation, I've been missing my electro style fix as of late.
Keepin' it in Germany with a visit from Siriusmo. I didn't see much press about his second album Enthusiast compared to his debut Mosaik, though I suppose we weren't waiting about ten years for it. Similar to the Modeselektor tune it sounds pretty unstable, but the title also translates to something along the lines of "Beer Tears" too.
Something a little out of leftfield here, I've mentioned a Squarepusher's one off Jazz record a couple of times but never actually posted anything from it save My Sound. It does get pretty weird in parts but is actually pretty sweet, here's a little 40 second interstitial that appears about halfway through that reminds me of some stuff I've made meself while on the drink.
And finally, a little extra that I decided to put on as it came on in the station. A dubbed out rework of Massive Attack's Better Things courtesy of Mad Professor. I was surprised I hadn't posted this one, it's one of my favourites from the remix album No Protection, headphones definitely recommended for this one.
I spent the last couple of days with a friend, and we spent a lot of that time waxing nostalgic about when we were beginning to explore Electro. We were lucky that it was around 2006-7, which is pretty much the time when every track out there was golden and new stuff was out every week or so. And after spinning them both on vinyl and from files I was feeling pretty inspired, so now I'm putting together another list of my Electro favourites, both old and new. An Electrospective if you will (sorry.)

Vitalic's OK Cowboy is a stonking release, especially when you find out that three of the album's biggest tracks (Poney Part 1 & 2,La Rock 01) were originally recorded/released in 2001. They held up well enough not only to still be fresh when included on OK Cowboy in 2005, but like the whole album, is still bloody good even now.
I had a pretty terrible vinyl rip of Kavinsky's Teddy Boy EP for a long long time, it wasn't until I previewed it on JunoDownload that I realised what I'd been missing. I thought the rip I had sounded pretty good, so I was blown away by the DL, by far the highlights are the two Testarossa tracks. I love 'em both, but Nightdrive gets nowhere near as much press as Autodrive so that's my pick for this one.
I got turned on to Shinchi Osawa from his brilliant remix of Felix Da Housecat's Radio and never looked back. Pretty much all of The One is quality, and when I finally picked up the re-issue with a boatload of remixes on it, I was surprised to find this extended mix of The Golden on the tracklist. I was kinda disappointed at first 'cos I liked the original, but then I hit play.
I'd heard of Siriusmo through remixes and that, but never paid much attention to his EPs and such. Then when Mosaik dropped I decided to check him out. I've commented on his unique brand of electro and posted a couple of my favourite cuts from it before, so I'm just gonna cut to the chase and leave you with another nice bit from Mosaik
Likewise, I knew of Modeselektor for a while, but outside of a couple tracks here and there I could never get into their releases too much. I gave them another go around when Monkeytown was coming out and I was sold. The intro track left such a good impression I could have gone out and bought it then and been happy, the progression throughout is solid and the album as a whole is top notch, definitely one to check out if you missed it the first time around.
And that'll be all for today, hope you enjoyed my less eclectic mix of tracks this time, I can't promise it'll stay that way for much longer though!
Alright, you'll fall in love after 5 seconds. Breakbot, you groovy funky genius.
7. SebastiAn – Enio
The worst track I've ever heard from SebastiAn, very bad. That song is so weak, I checked twice to see if it was really his. Sounds like Justice trying to do a song for a bad movie where nothing happens. Let's hope his album (hahahahahahaha.) will be better.
8. Mattie Safer – Is That Your Girl ? (Ft Telli From Ninjasonik)
No idea who the hell that is, but... N O.
9. Gesaffelstein – The Voice
Decent track, a bit too boring sadly, but I can understand what people would like in it. Simply not my type of music I guess.
Riton's killing it one more time. Those drums are definitely gonna make your ears smile.
18. Skream - Boat Party
I wasn't sure about Skream, not that dubstep's being overplayed at the moment but... you get it, I was worrying about the WUBWUBWUBWUBs. Great news, Skream still knows how to produce music without that shitty noise. Lovely tune, epic synths, I don't need anything more.
DJ Mehdi at his best. There's something that reminds me of Fatboy Slim in the way he uses the vocals. I don't know if I can say that Mehdi's trying to go bit beat, but if he is, he's gifted. OH and, the trumpet... !
20. Flying Lotus – Caravan Of Delight
One word : booooooring.
That's it for that bitter sweet compilation, it was worth the wait, but disappointing on some levels.
I couldn't not post about Mondkopf, because I just love the guy and he released an amazing remix. So dark, so good... I might have the chance to see him again in March, if any of you see him playing next to your town, go for it, he is incredible.
