Friday.

Hi

Disclosure recently announced that they will release a special edition of their album Settle. Among the names of the remixers that will be featured on it are Dj Premier, Sohn and Larry Heard.

Today Dj Premier released his incredibly relaxing remix of Latch, he found exactly what to do with it.

Some of you probably remember our good friends from TEAM BANZAI. If you don't, you should check their soundcloud.

They just released a track I love, called Blondie. It has something I haven't heard for a long time, a heartbeat bass, it reminded me of Boys Noize's masterpiece, Heart Attack. But it doesn't stop here, the whole songs just works perfectly, just let it transport you out of this cold winter!

Now, WAEK. I had the chance of seeing them about a month ago, these three guys have a lot of talent, and this new track is here to prove it!

If you enjoy simple yet extremely effective synths and twists, you're in for a treat!

The same night I had the chance to see WEAK, I also "ran" into Pyramid, who gave us a killer set.

Why am I telling you this? Because 2 weeks ago he released a remix for The Swiss. He came a long long way since the first things I've heard from him, under an alias I am apparently not allowed to reveal.

Enjoy!

How to nicely start the week

Hey guys.

Some great tracks came out this weekend, here are those who really got on my mind.

I couldn't not start with this track. Frank Ocean gives us another track from his soon to be released album Channel Orange. A magnificient mix between poetry, hip hop, electro and jazz.

Louis La Roche is best known for his disco house skills, he diverges from his usual style here, going for something a bit more clubby/techno, still pretty strong though.

Pyramid decided to try his hand at Logic, he usually makes his tunes using FLstudio. For a first shot, that's pretty impressive! As usual, everything is about the atmosphere, the progression slowly getting to your guts...

Pilotpriest's back with some synths that'll keep your mind in the clouds for a few minutes, while slowly coming back to reality because well, it's monday.

Let's close this post with a catchy remix of Anoraak - Made-Up by the 3 guys officiating under the name of Les Loups.

Life Above The Stars

Hey again Pyramid released a new EP called Life Above The Stars, he's still got his very recognizable style, can't wait to see how this guy sounds live, there's a lot of potential in his tracks to become amazing live edits. Neutral is especially good. Here is the EP, you can grab it for 4€ on his Bandcamp, give the guy some love.

Total Recall

Hi there!

Let's begin with Flosstradamus who recently released a free EP.

For your information, this isn't Trap, this is Post-Apocalyptic Trap, that's how it's called, yeah. Anyway who cares about music genre's name, they change every 2 weeks, the point was that, it's really really good. UR Life is by far my favorite, but the three tracks are strong.

Thony Ritz will release his new EP Moonwalker on March 5th and it'll feature this groovy The Phantom's Revenge remix !

It's calmer than usual for a TPR remix, it doesn't have its usual vocal (over)chopping which I usually like except when it's just too much. Anyway it's a solid remix, have a listen.

Last time I posted about RESET! I believe it was for their incredibly daring, yet very well done, If I Ever Feel Better edit.

This time they remixed Bingo Players - Cry, which is a good track by the way. They made a massive banger out of a very groovy song, you'll like it.

Bonus : Pyramid's first mix. Tracklist in the comment section as usual.

Names of 2011

Here is a (partial obviously, these are the things I will remember for the year anyway) list of important names that came up this year.

Pyramid

Pyramid has been around for quite some times but he really started getting attention this year, his 10 tracks long EP "Lost In Space" is simply filled with awesomeness, that guy will seriously be big in 10 years. His songs could fit so much movie scenes perfectly, everytime I hear one of his track I just picture the whole scene instantly.

Pyramid - Behind You

Drive
Talking about songs in movies : Drive wouldn't be the masterpiece it is if it did not have such an amazing OST. Kavinsky as opening credits, incredibly good COLLEGE track that will make you remember the scenes it's used in instalty when you listen to it. And Cliff Martinez's original tracks made for the movie are really making you feel the tention.

The Magician

Former half of Aeroplane Stephen became the magician for the pleasure of everyone enjoying retro synths. Magic tapes, remixes, original tracks, he did everything with talent, giving us something every month of the year...

Madeon
He was already around for a year, getting recognition for his remix of The Island by Pendulum but 2011 was really HIS year. He remixed Deadmau5, Yelle (and opened for her too), made a mashup of Wolfgang Gartner for Porter Robinson. Oh and yeah he made Pop Culture Mashup who got crazy (well deserved) attention all over the interwebz.

Alecks Awklr
The kind of guy who links his bandcamp page on the shoutbox, you listen to it out of curiosity and instantly fall in love with. In addition to being a very nice guy he produced one of the best album of the year, it really came out of nowhere and I LOVE THAT. Alecks Awklr - Breathless

Alecks Awklr - Temple Runner

Dj Mehdi

Here comes the sad part of the post, the very sad part. I never understood much those people crying over famous people deaths, I was a bit sad when MJ died but that's about it. But now I get it, when someone who makes music you listen to almost everyday, makes songs who go right into your heart such as Pocket Piano or Signatune, and you hear that this man died, well you seriously feel something. I never had the chance of seing Mehdi on stage, but I always heard good things about his lives and about him being a genuinly nice guy. Hats off mehdi.

Rei Harakami
Yes, another name... You might not know him, we only posted once about Rei, but he made some very relaxing ambient tracks. A man to be remembered.

More to come, in my top 10 albums :)

Lost In Space

Hi guys Pyramid released a new EP today. It's 10 tracks long, you can find some tracks that were already released on his soundcloud such as Space Odissey or The Race, and obviously a lot of new ones. Lost In Space is a simply amazing, it gives an impressive look of what he's able to create, wonderful, deep yet dancy tunes... Welcome to Pyramid's universe. Beside having a nice taste for the artworks he uses on his covers, he has a very personal style, between ambient, soundtrack like music and 8bit / à la Danger synths. It's a name your price release, so don't forget to grab it, and give him what you think his work is worth, it's important to help new artists.

Pyramid

Hi there

This is a post I've been wanting to do for a long time.

Pyramid's a talented french producer that I follow since his firsts steps, known as Twisted Body.

Beside being the head writer of my favorite blog, called You Are Here (The similarity between the blog's name and my nickname's a pure coincidence, and I like coincidences.), he produces tracks in his very own way, between what you could consider movie soundtrack music and electronica.

You can feel both musical and cinematographic influences in his work. For example, Danger in 7 Suns (Auto remix).

Pyramid - 7 Suns (Auto Remix)

Or, obviously, Inception's OST by Hans Zimmer here.

Pyramid - Inception

7 Suns is one of the 5 tracks on his latest EP : The Hall

Here is a short selection of my favorites tracks, but be sure to check his soundcloud, he's got tricks up his sleeves.

His most recent track is The Race.

A calmer track, love the universe he created in this one.

And two great remixes.
